Information on Entering Counties ( Click to open / close )
There are two sorts of qualifying times - automatic & consideration. If you have an automatic time then you've definitely qualified. Consideration times allow the meet organisers to control the number of entries so it's not overcrowded. If you have one of these there is a good chance you will swim but it's not guaranteed - last year all consideration times were accepted but there were a couple of events at Waterlooville that were too busy.
What times can I use? - you can only use times that appear on the ASA Rankings and that are dated 1 April 2015 or later. They can be from all levels 1-4 (level 4 is Club Championships - these cannot be used for Regionals. YOU CANNOT USE - times from any team gala such as Rother League or Arena League, times older than 1 April 2015, times gained in one of our club time trials. Anyone who is rejected because they have used an illegal time will not get a refund. You can check qualifying times on the rankings here: www.swimmingresults.org/individualbest. Put in your surname or ASA number (quicker & worth learning!). Swimmers for 800m & 1500m only can use a time issued by a coach - that is going to be people who have already qualified for 400m freestyle. Speak to your coach about this. (From 2017 these events will have to be Rankings times too). If you want to convert long course (50m) to short course (25m) or vice versa you can use www.pullbuoy.co.uk/times and use the 'ASA Tables' option for the conversion. However, you can put both long and short course times for the same event on the entry and the faster time will be selected automatically by Hampshire ASA.
How do I enter? - We would prefer that all entries are done online via the Club, using button above - if this is an issue you need to see Darren Lee or Ken Parry and they will help you do it or as a last resort provide a paper form. You should enter all events for which you have qualified including those with consideration times. Full payment must be made with the entry and refunds will be given for any rejected on the basis of overcrowding. If you do not pay you will not be entered. All entries must be made through the Club - we have to sign a declaration that they have all been checked and we are invoiced for the total club entry fee. You will also need to pay the £5 admin fee per swimmer entering individual events. This helps partially offset the considerable costs of providing coach cover for 6 full days of competition.
The closing date for entries to HWSC is Friday 11 December UNLESS you are swimming at the City of Southampton meet in which case it is the day after the meet Mon 14 December.
